K-9 Gronk to patrol streets of Massachusetts town

Drug dealers in Athol, Mass. really need to watch their backs because Gronk will soon be patrolling its streets and snuffing out crime.

Or maybe sniffing out crime is more appropriate.

So no, Rob Gronkowski is not going to pull a Steven Segal and patrol the streets of Athol by night, but he did leave his mark on the department in some little way even if he didn’t know it.

As first reported by the Athol Daily News, Chief Russell Kleber wanted to name the pooch after a Boston sports figure, and one that had a connection to the town.

The Patriots’ tight end did attend a nearby charity event in February and ordered a sandwich which the resturant owner immediately dubbed “The Big Subkowski.”

Meantime, the process will proceed.

“We’ll continue to work at it. I don’t see any problem with that,” Elway said. “I look forward to being here with the Broncos for a long time. This is my home. This will always be my home. I’m not going anywhere. As a kid I moved around quite a bit, but Colorado and Denver will always be my home.”

Elway’s comments come against the backdrop of crucial organized team Cheap Jerseys Shop activities in which quarterbacks Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch fight for the starting job as new coach Vance Joseph and coordinator Mike McCoy begin installing a new offense — the season after the defending Super Bowl champions missed the playoffs.

“There’s no lead[er],” Elway said of the QB competition. “We’re going to keep throwing it out there, and they’re going to keep playing and we have a long time to go until we finally get Cheap Jerseys Rugby to that opener in September. Vance and the staff will pick the right guy. But, they’re all going to work. We’re very fortunate in the fact that we have two young quarterbacks that can really play. So, I’m excited about that.”
