In fact, Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst sent a letter to each NFL team vouching for Clement.
“Corey was great this year! He was terrific as a player, as a teammate, and as an individual,” Chryst wrote. “Corey cared more about this team than he did his future as an individual prospect in the NFL. He was unselfish, a diligent worker, and kept getting better and better as the year progressed. As a staff, we thought Corey was a big factor in the success we had as a team this year.
“I can highly recommend with confidence Corey Clement.”
Clement is also cognizant of the reputation Badgers running backs have since 1999 Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne did not pan out after the Giants selected him 11th overall in the 2000 draft. After Dayne came a series of Wisconsin backs — Michael Bennett, John Clay, Brian Calhoun, Anthony Davis, Montee Ball — who struggled to find sustained success in the NFL.
It’s easy to remember, yet still hard to believe, that a year ago the Vikings were coming off an 11-win season, a division title and the knowledge that they really should have reached the second round of the playoffs. (But they didn’t, thanks to Blair Walsh, now their ex-kicker.)
Now they’re trying to figure out how to flip last season’s mess — not even relative mess, a genuine mess — into something closer to what they had last spring. They hit this offseason as an 8-8 team that had started out 5-0, which makes that final record feel far worse.
I want to especially thank the incredibly loyal Jets fans, who were always there for us with their never-ending support. I’m sorry……I’m sorry we couldn’t bring you a championship, but I wish you and my former organization the very best in your pursuit for one in the future. I’m looking Cheap Michael Jordan Jerseys forward Cheap Lebron Jerseys to finding a great organization where I can contribute and bring home a championship. I know I have a lot left to give, and @michi_marshall and I will truly miss the Jets, but we are excited for what lies ahead.
