Bengals sign Sam Hubbard to wrap up draft class

The Bengals have signed all of their 2018 draft picks.

The team announced that third-round pick Sam Hubbard signed his four-year rookie deal with the team on Thursday. They also signed linebacker Malik Jefferson, who went one pick after Hubbard at No. 78 overall, to get all 11 of their picks under contract.

Hubbard grew up in Cincinnati and played at Ohio State, where he had 17 sacks in three seasons for the Buckeyes. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said recently that his early work with the team has gone well.

The picks are in and the 2018 NHL Draft has come to a close. The weekend began with the Buffalo Sabres selecting Rasmus Dahlin No. 1 overall and it ended with the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals choosing Eric Florchuk with the 217th and final pick.

A lot happened, like some surprise selections, a few trades and plenty of intrigue as we approach free agency. Let’s take a look at some winners and losers from draft weekend.

The Bears have done similar practices in recent years, and even though it’s on a Wednesday, gives them a moment of a Friday Night Lights atmosphere, complete with fireworks after the practice.

Tickets for the practice will be free, but fans will need to register on the Bears website to gain access, and capacity is limited to 5,000.

Also, while hanging around the high school, the Cheap High Quality Soccer Jerseys Bears may find a copy of last year’s offensive game plan laying Cheap Discount Jerseys around, so it’s a win-win.

Here’s a fact that further points to a bargain possibly being brokered: Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that Winston’s suspension could be increased if he fails to meet certain undisclosed requirements expected to be imposed by the NFL. That feels like the kind of term that would be added to a negotiated compromise aimed at wrapping things up easily, while also making it even easier to whack him with another penalty if he runs afoul of the NFL’s expectations.

Quinn: Lions had’multiple offers’ for No. 20 pick

The phone was predictably ringing, and the Detroit Lions were making several calls of their own. But when push came to shove, the team preferred to stay put at No. 20 and draft Arkansas center Frank Ragnow.

We had multiple offers on the table for our pick, general manager Bob Quinn said.

Quinn said the Lions had multiple players with similar grades, but Ragnow was the highest on the team’s board, making it an easy selection.

It was enough for the analysts to be impressed with the Lions’ pick, regardless of missing time because of the injured ankle.

He’s a heck of a football player, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. said. When you think about this pick here, he was injured Oct. 21 with a high-ankle sprain. He had a minor procedure. Before that, he was dominant for a center. In the Alabama game, look at the job he did there.

He had a heck of a season going until that injury he’s coming back from. You think about his size and physicality of Ragnow, he could be like (Pro Bowlers) Alex Mack, Nick Mangold and a heck of an anchor up front for you.

In fact, more Barkley jerseys were sold on Thursday night than any player on previous draft nights, online retailer Fanatics, who manages the NFL’s official online shop, told ESPN. Speed played a part in Thursday night’s sales. Fanatics posted jerseys within minutes of a player being selected, making it possible for fans to purchase them quicker than ever before. According to Fanatics, sales were up three times more on Thursday night than last year’s first-round. Former Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel previously held the record for most jersey sales on draft night.

Cleveland selected Manziel as the No. 22 pick in the 2014 draft, meaning Barkley jerseys went up for sale much sooner than Manziel’s. Jersey sales for quarterback Baker Mayfield, selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Browns, ranked second-most. Sales for Sam Darnold, chosen No. 3 overall by the Jets, were third. Orders for the sales will not be processed until the players pick the numbers they will wear in the NFL. Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. tweeted his prediction on Cheap Football Jerseys Thursday night that No. 26 jerseys for new teammate Barkley Cheap High Quality Soccer Jerseys will be the top-seller next year.
